The way teachers teach and how lessons are structured continues to change, creating a demand for flexible professional learning for remote and hybrid instruction.

Open to all educators, Verizon Innovative Learning’s Teacher Training Pathways support teachers with free professional learning focused on digital skills, remote learning, and digital coaching with opportunities to earn Digital Promise micro-credentials.

Training verification includes:

  • Competency-based certification of learning via micro-credentials, assessed by experts.
  • Certificate of attendance

Here is a sample of the courses you can look forward to; additional courses will be added throughout the year.

Introduction to Instructional Tech Coaching Year 1
This course defines instructional coaching and provides guidance on strategies coaches can use as they develop or expand their roles within a school. It is designed to build coach capacity to strategically and purposefully improve teaching and learning with instructional technology. Participants will also learn how to reinforce interpersonal relationships among educators and administrators leading to increased student achievement. This course may serve as a supplemental resource to pre-existing coaching models. The Introduction to Instructional Technology Coaching Year 1 pathway is aligned to six micro-credentials.

Introduction to Instructional Tech Coaching Year 2
This course provides depth on building resilient and sustainable learning communities in high-poverty schools. This course is a follow-up to the Introduction to Instructional Tech Coaching Year 1 pathway and is aligned to six micro-credentials.

Evergreen Tools for Remote Learning
This course offers teachers an opportunity to explore powerful tools for creating online classroom spaces and meaningful blended and remote learning experiences. While exploring the potential of these edtech tools, teachers will learn and apply a framework that will help students to be thoughtful about the tools they select. Teachers will have the opportunity to earn the Evergreen Tools for Remote Learning micro-credential upon the successful completion of this course.

Transitioning to Remote Learning
The Transitioning to Remote Learning coursework is designed to help educators address learning challenges in remote instruction through a process of needs assessment, course design, and implementation of critical elements of developing an equitable and inclusive learning ecosystem that meets the needs of students of all backgrounds and identities in a remote learning environment. This course will provide you with a pathway to transition your pedagogy to a remote format that provides students with a researched and logical pathway of learning in a remote instructional environment. The Transitioning to Remote Learning course is aligned to four micro-credentials.

Creating Digitally Inclusive and Accessible Learning Experiences
In this pathway, teachers will learn about various aspects of creating inclusive and accessible learning experiences. Teachers will identify steps of the design process for creating inclusive learning assets, which includes accessible learning assets that engage learners and optimize their learning experiences. Teachers will have the opportunity to earn the Creating Digitally Inclusive and Accessible Learning Experiences micro-credential upon the successful completion of this course.

Moving Forward with Hybrid Learning
Move forward and rethink education with student-centered hybrid learning. Teachers will explore various educational models for remote learning as well as best practices for preparing resources, activities, supports, and assessments to determine the best way for students to learn in an impactful virtual learning environment. Teachers will have the opportunity to earn the Moving Forward with Hybrid Learning micro-credential upon the successful completion of this course.

Understanding Learner Variability
In this pathway, educators will develop a foundational understanding of the research on learner variability and its impact on teaching and learning. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Understanding Learner Variability micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

Design Better Learning Experiences with Learner Variability
The Design Better Learning Experiences with Learner Variability pathway helps educators understand learner factors and how to design learning experiences that maximize for learner variability. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Design Better Learning Experiences with Learner Variability micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

Applying Learner Variability to Coaching Practices
Coaches will incorporate learner variability into daily coaching practices. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Applying Learner Variability to Coaching Practices micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

Applying Learner Variability To Teaching Practices
Educators will incorporate learner variability into daily instructional practices. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Applying Learner Variability to Teaching Practices micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

Building Powerful Family and Community Partnerships
Family and community partnerships are vital to student learning. Educators will create sustainable relationships with communities and families. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Building Powerful Family & Community Partnerships micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

Make Student Thinking Visible
Educators will build effective learning environments and learn strategies that guide students to articulate their thinking. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Make Student Thinking Visible micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

Developing and Facilitating Virtual Projects
Educators will explore virtual project-based learning. Educators will consider what content and skills would most benefit and engage students and design projects to strengthen students’ critical-thinking skills. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Developing and Facilitating Virtual Projects micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

Enhance Learning with Augmented Reality
Educators will explore the benefits of designing learning experiences with augmented reality (AR). The educator will create learner-centered AR activities using inquiry-based strategies to open new learning opportunities for students. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Enhance Learning with Augmented Reality micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

Effectively Leveraging Virtual Reality in the Classroom
Educators will learn how to adapt their lessons to incorporate simulated experiences that bring learning into a completely digital , 360-degree world. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Effectively Leveraging Virtual Reality in the Classroom micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

The Talk: Valuing Diversity in Teaching Practices
Educators will explore various diversity-focused strategies to assist with tailoring content and teaching methods to maximize student learning. This includes building effective classroom environments and learning experiences that represent and include student diversity. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the The Talk: Valuing Diversity in Teaching Practices micro-credential upon successful completion of this course. T

Social-Emotional Learning in Today’s Classroom
Educators will explore concepts and skills related to social and emotional learning. Educators will examine effective ways of connecting and communicating even in the most challenging situations, and strategies for building collaborative classroom communities and positive learning environments. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Social-Emotional Learning in Today’s Classroom micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

Leverage the Power of Podcasts and Video
Educators will explore how podcasts and videos can be used as a unique approach for teaching and learning. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Leverage the Power of Podcasts and Video micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

Building a Collaborative Data Culture
Educators will eliminate data silos and explore data planning tools while promoting diversity of perspectives and encouraging collaboration. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Building a Collaborative Data Culture micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.

Effective Use of Learner Profiles
Teachers will examine how learner profiles can be used to identify learner variability factors that will impact instruction and the learning environment. Teachers will learn how to use different types of profiles and surveys to determine learner needs. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Effective Use of Learner Profiles micro-credential upon successful completion of this course.
