Teacher Training Pathways

The way teachers teach and how lessons are structured continues to change, creating a demand for flexible professional learning for remote and hybrid instruction.

Open to all educators, Verizon Innovative Learning’s Teacher Training Pathways support teachers with free professional learning focused on digital skills, remote learning, and digital coaching with opportunities to earn Digital Promise micro-credentials.

Training verification includes:

  • Competency-based certification of learning via micro-credentials, assessed by experts.
  • Certificate of attendance

Here is a sample of the courses you can look forward to; additional courses will be added throughout the year.

Introduction to Instructional Technology Coaching
This course defines instructional coaching and provides depth on initial coaching strategies used by instructional technology coaches as they develop/expand their roles within a school. It is designed to build coach capacity to strategically and purposefully improve teaching and learning with instructional technology. Participants will also learn how to reinforce interpersonal relationships among educators and administrators leading to increased student achievement. This course may serve as a supplemental resource to pre-existing coaching models. The Introduction to Instructional Technology Coaching pathway is aligned to six micro-credentials.

Evergreen Tools for Blended and Remote Learning
This course offers teachers an opportunity to explore powerful tools for creating online classroom spaces and meaningful blended and remote learning experiences. While exploring the potential of these edtech tools, teachers will learn and apply a framework that will help students to be thoughtful about the tools they select. Teachers will have the opportunity to earn the Choosing Tech Tools micro-credential upon the successful completion of this course. This micro-credential is part of the Digital Fluency stack.

Transitioning to Remote Learning
The Transitioning to Remote Learning coursework is designed to help educators address learning challenges in remote instruction through a process of needs assessment, course design, and implementation of critical elements of developing an equitable and inclusive learning ecosystem that meets the needs of students of all backgrounds and identities in a remote learning environment. This course will provide you with a pathway to transition your pedagogy to a remote format that provides students with a researched and logical pathway of learning in a remote instructional environment. The Transitioning to Remote Learning course is aligned to five micro-credentials.

Creating Digitally Inclusive and Accessible Learning Experiences
In this pathway, teachers will learn about various aspects of creating inclusive and accessible learning experiences. Teachers will identify steps of the design process for creating inclusive learning assets, which includes accessible learning assets that engage learners and optimize their learning experiences. Teachers will have the opportunity to earn the Creating Digitally Inclusive and Accessible Learning Experiences micro-credential upon the successful completion of this course. This micro-credential is part of the Designing Inclusive and Accessible Learning Experiences stack.

Moving Forward with Hybrid Learning
Move forward and rethink education with student-centered hybrid learning. Teachers will explore various educational models for remote learning as well as best practices for preparing resources, activities, supports, and assessments to determine the best way for students to learn in an impactful virtual learning environment. Teachers will have the opportunity to earn the Moving Forward with Hybrid Learning micro-credential upon the successful completion of this course.

Understanding Learner Variability
In this pathway, educators will develop a foundational understanding of the research on learner variability and its impact on teaching and learning. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Learner Variability: Understanding micro-credential upon successful completion of this course. This micro-credential is part of the Designing for Learner Variability stack.

Design Better Learning Experiences with Learner Variability
The Design Better Learning Experiences with Learner Variability pathway helps educators understand learner factors and how to design learning experiences that maximize for learner variability. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Learner Variability: Designing Learning Experiences micro-credential upon successful completion of this course. This micro-credential is part of the Designing for Learner Variability stack.

Applying Learning Variability to Coaching Practices
Coaches will incorporate learner variability into daily coaching practices. Educators will have the opportunity to earn the Learner Variability in Your Coaching Practice micro-credential upon successful completion of this course. This micro-credential is part of the Designing for Learner Variability stack.

Applying Learner Variability To Teaching Practices
Educators will incorporate learner variability into daily instructional practices.
