Kalama Intermediate School, Baldwin-Kekaulike Maui Complex Area, Maui, Hawaii
A Message from the Principal, Timothy Shim:
Tradition, pride, and aloha are the cornerstone of Kalama Intermediate School. There is something special about living on Maui and something exceptionally special about Upcountry Maui. Kalama Intermediate serves students from five distinct communities of Upcountry Maui: Haiku, Paia, Makawao, Pukalani, and Kula. Our school boundary spans over 30 geographic miles! We also host the Hawaiian Language Immersion Program, so some of our students actually come from other areas of Maui as well. To say that we are diverse is an understatement. At Kalama, we believe in community and family and we focus on doing what’s best for our students. Our goal is to give our students as many opportunities as possible to pursue their passions. Where other middle schools have cut electives, we have actually expanded them. Our school offers band, fine arts, ukulele, agriculture, technology, Hawaiian language, home economics, choir, hula, bells, and media. Partnering with Digital Promise gives us limitless potential and opportunity for all. Watch out for the Kalama Panthers… we’re about to take off!
